“The cult of conditioning and the harm it does”
Together they discuss the impact of non sport-specific training, or cult conditioning, on a pre- and post- 2008 Tiger Woods. Through the tale of two Tigers they will discuss their research behind explaining how Tiger went from winning 14 majors before 2008 to zero thereafter. In addition to Tiger, the presentation will address conditioning techniques in other sports such as swimming, with particular attention to the careers of Nancy Garapick and Missy Franklin. It concludes with prescriptions for limiting the negative impact of sport/exercise practices in contemporary training.

Presented by the Centre for the Study of Sport & Health.
