Saint Mary's University and The Journal of Religion and Film and are pleased to co-sponsor the 2019 International Conference on Religion & Film (ICRF) in Halifax NS.
Halifax occupies a unique place in Canadian history as a point of ingress for settlers, entry for immigrants, refuge for loyalist Blacks, exile for Maroons, and continues to be the unceded territories of the Mi'kmaw. Its rich history includes the graveyard of the Titanic, ground zero for the Halifax explosion, and a small oceanside park that landscapes away a history of racism in the erasure of Africville.
For the 2019 ICRF we will be featuring a keynote and panels on the special topic of Immigration and Indigeneity in religion and film. We hope to highlight films by Indigenous film makers, settler film makers or films dealing with points of conflict or congress at the intersections of religion and film.
SEE YOU IN HALIFAX!
Closed as of March 15.
