TransCoastal Adaptations: Centre for Nature-based Solutions, operating out of Saint Mary’s University, is responsible for two key projects:
The Making Room for Wetlands project, aimed at restoring 75 hectares of salt marshes along the Bay of Fundy through the decommissioning and realignment of dykes.
Making Room for Movement project, aimed at building regional resilience to climate-change impacts by developing a framework for coastal practitioners working with community residents, land owners, resource-users and governments on the implementation of innovative, nature-based alternatives to hard infrastructure.
ACCESS (Atlantic Canada Coastal and Estuarine Science Society) is a regional affiliate society of the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation (CERF). ACCESS is a membership-based, non-profit, non-partisan, multi-disciplinary organization of academics, students, government, and industry professionals whose members study and manage all aspects of estuaries and coast.
ACCESS members are dedicated to advancing our understanding and appreciation of Atlantic Canada’s marine ecosystems, the wise-use and management of these environments, and to making the results of their research and management actions available to colleagues and the public. Members of the Society include academic and government researchers, public sector managers, teachers, consultants, students and others who are interested in estuaries.
The Cold Regions Living Shorelines Community of Practice (CRLS CoP) is an interactive bi-national online community that facilitates communication and knowledge-exchange for developing, supporting, and stewarding the effective use of living shorelines in temperate North America.
CRLS CoP is part of Coastal Zone Canada Association, a nationally incorporated non-profit society of coastal zone management professionals promoting Integrated Coastal Zone Management practices in Canada and abroad.
