Academic integrity is the foundation of higher learning. It refers to a set of ethical values relating to how we treat our sources of knowledge and how new knowledge is constructed and shared with others. The values of academic integrity go beyond student citation mistakes, plagiarism and cheating, which are the technical manifestations of violations associated with it. Academic integrity is a shared responsibility among all members of the University community.
The aim of this week-long event is to engage students, faculty and staff in learning and sharing with others how they can uphold academic integrity to increase student success and promote the ethical values of scholarly dialogue and respectful knowledge creation. See our list of events and learn how students can earn Co-Curricular Recognition for attending!

Academic Integrity: What Do We Ask of Each Other?
Monday, November 2
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
CLARI (AT340)
This 90-minute forum will bring students and faculty together to explore academic integrity as a shared responsibility. The discussion will focus on trust, fairness and relational accountability in the context of teaching and learning. Participants will have the opportunity to work through realistic 'gray zone' cases/scenarios, consider who is affected in each one and what responsibilities arise, then separately identify what students and faculty need from an academic integrity-focused process before returning to mixed groups to work together to shape fair, proportionate, educational and accountable responses.
The panel will be moderated by Dr. Tatjana Takseva, Vice-Chairperson of Academic Senate.
